Do #6 - Do be honest, giving, and a partner.
Okay we've been touching on this throughout our dos and don'ts. What we're really saying here is that you want to be the kind of person people want to do business with. You do that by being honest; you do that by being giving; you do that by being a partner.
Always tell the truth - remember Don't 5 - don't lie. Honesty really is the best policy. You never have to remember what you said - the truth is easy to remember. Plus, there are so many people lying that you'll stand out from the crowd.
Be giving. There are many ways you can help your clients, contacts, associates. When you help them, they will be more inclined to want to work with you and refer you. You are someone they can count on. You establish yourself as solid. That instills confidence.
Be a partner. This is like being a giver. Find out what's going on with your clients. Partner with them to help them reach their goals. Be invested in their success. However, be careful here. Don't start thinking that they are your partner and should understand what goes on in your organization. It doesn't work that way. They are your customer and they are paying you.
This is a place where the partnership is sort of one-sided. The payoff is huge, so it is well worth it.
The lesson here - be someone others trust and count on.
