1st Annual Great American Small Business Challenge

The Great American Small Business Challenge is designed to help small business owners develop a faster, easier and better business development process by implementing best practices early on in their development cycle. This lessons the \"growing pains\" experienced by most small businesses and builds the type of organizational infrastructure that prepares them for rapid growth.

The GASBC is open to all U.S. Small Businesses and is a year long event, starting January 1, 2009 running through December 31, 2009. The event is designed to encourage small business owners to gain the essential leadership skills needed to turn their business into a rewarding, profit generating enterprise.

The Challenge is a collaborative effort between corporate and non-profit sponsors, participating Small Business Development Centers (SBCDs), members of the America\'s Small Business Development Network (ASBDC) and other organizations who provide resources, services and funding to small businesses.

The Great American Small Business Challenge provides small business owners with free online tools, training, and, the support they need to feel more optimistic, confident and energized about their business. Small Business owners are also encouraged to work closely with their local Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) to take advantage of the resources and services that the center\'s provide.

Challenge participants will have the opportunity to earn multiple awards based upon the progress that they make during the GASBC, so even business owners that get a late start or get side-tracked by outside commitments should still have plenty of time to WIN an award (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum).

Awards are achieved when certain milestones in the business development process are reached. Each milestone, or completed step in our four step process, is associated with a corresponding award. In addition, through the generosity of corporate and non-profit sponsors, challenge participants can receive product discounts, qualify for special offers and prizes and will receive FREE National publicity.
