Have you ever had an experience where another business person wanted to enter into a partnership with you or your company? How did it go?

Sometimes these partnerships can seem like a great idea. Your mouth waters at all of the revenue possibilities. And then . . .

The key to a successful partnership is to do your due diligence ahead of time. Make sure you don't get caught up in all the hype but rather really look at the idea. What is your role? What is theirs? What will each of you bring to the relationship and what is the expected result? Learn as much as you can about their organization - make sure it is as it seems.

And stay focused; stay on the ground. You'll avoid future disappointment, a lot of time spent, and sometimes money spent. As they say in politics - make sure you 'vet' your partner before entering into a relationship.
