Attitude Really Is Everything

Today I had the pleasure of hearing Nobby Lewandowski speak at a luncheon. How inspiring! Here is a man who people believed wouldn't amount to much because he stuttered. He still stutters, but has figured out how to use it to his advantage. As he said, 'a disability isn't a disability unless you think it is a disability.' He was entertaining, interesting, enthusiastic, and had a great message.

Interestingly he mentioned that attitude is everything. Earlier today I was in a meeting where we were talking about attitude. One woman in the group mentioned that she works with a gal who is really good at her job, but has a negative attitude. She wondered what a company should do with a person like that. My answer was - create an environment of optimism, positive thinking and feeling. She'll either opt in or out. And if she opts out, let her go. While you can teach tasks, details, job functions, it is not so easy to teach positive attitude.

I think Nobby would say that you need to surround yourself with positive people - the kind who believe the glass is half-full. The impact it can have on others is tremendous. We should never underestimate the power of positive thinking and being.
